Plantation Development
Choosing the crop to suit the land, then establishing it properly.
Plantation Development
Every plantation failure we have been asked to fix began the same way: the crop was chosen before anyone understood the site.
Cardamom planted below its elevation. Pepper set on ground that holds water at the collar. Coffee under a canopy nobody had thinned in fifteen years. In each case the mistake was invisible for two or three seasons, and expensive to reverse by the time it showed.
So we assess first: elevation, aspect, rainfall, soil depth and drainage, and the shade that is already standing. Then we say what the land will actually carry — sometimes the crop the owner had in mind, often not.
Establishment then runs as a phased programme. Shade and water are settled first, planting material is sourced from nurseries we know, pitting is done ahead of the rains, and blocks go in over two or three seasons so the estate is never fully exposed at once.
